Monki See, Monki Do.....

30 August, 2009

I didn't realise until now but I want to go to Sweden.

Why ?

I just found out about Monki, Sweden's top fashion destination for "the for girls who wish to express themselves through the clothing they wear".

Kind of like Topshop-meets Urban Outfitters-meets-Vintage, even though it's one of Sweden's most successful fashion chains, everything still manages to look so one of a kind and vintage, and it's all ridiculously cheap when compared to TopShop & UO.

Unfortunately, they don't have an online store, at the moment so it looks like if you're from the UK the only way to get your hands on their goods involves an airplane!

Hear I Am....

29 August, 2009

I'm not a "pink" person, i think I probably have one item of pink clothing, but when it comes to accessories, I can't get enough.

So when I saw these earrings, I know they were the one, pink+gold+fringe= 11" of ear loving goodness.

Available from iheartnorweigenwood at Etsy.

Dreams Can Come True...

These Ndeur ‘ Concept’ Paper Shoes have been making their rounds on every coolspotters blog for the last few months, unless there's some sort invention of super-strength, waterproof paper, I doubt they're ever going to be created.

So In the meantime, I think these Irregular Choice Shoes will do, obviously they don't have the 3-D triangles, but I can just imagine that they're there and be happy.

The shoes can be found at Shuch's Outlet store on Ebay, they've available in sizes 4 & 6 only for £35.

2 For The Price of 1

You can never have too many Espadrilles, i have like 4 pairs, and after looking at theses I'm tempted to buy more. TOMS have loads of different designs available, and the best thing about them is that with these, I can buy as many as I please without feeling guilty, because with every TOMS Shoes you buy, a pair gets donated to a child in need.

So far TOMS SHOES have given away over 150,00 pairs of shoes, and aim to give away a further 300,00 pairs by the end of 2009.

TOMS can be found at Office, Schuh, Topshop and other good shoe stores, but must of them only have plain designs, for the more exciting ones pictured above the best place to got to is direct to the source at TOMS Shoes.

The Waiting Game by Kelly Smith

Y So Late.....

The Brian Lichtenberg RIP YSL Tshirts sold out in a matter of weeks. Then along came Scrape it Like Sue who decided to create her own take on it and the legendary YSL logo, by creating the NOT YSL t-shirt. I absolutely love this t-shirt and the fact that it's handmade makes it even more impressive; hopefully she'll start selling them.

I wear my own garms.....

At the start of the summer, I promised myself that I wouldn't buy any clothes until I went back to Uni, and so far I've kept to my promise (sort of) so this kind of inspired me to start making my own clothes and DIYing.

And over the past few days I've gone a bit DIY mad, shredding, buttons, studs, I've been attacking my old clothes with everything and anything and I could find.

After i did my bag, I had loads of studs left, so I got very tempted to stud everything in sight, but i managed to restrain myself, and got to work with this old blazer i got from Ebay for like £5. The studs are a bit wonky again, I think next time I'll draw some lines as a guide.

I then attempted my own version of the American Apparel Circle Scarf, my mum brought this hot pink lyrca material the other day, and it seemed like the perfect material to make it from. The scarf is incredibly easy to make, yet I still managed to do it wrong, I didn't make the material wide enough, which just means it can't be worn as a dress/skirt, but I'll try to make another one, for the meanwhile, I try to dress it up with bows and chains.....not to sure how nice it looks though.

Last but not least, is my favourite DIY so far, I finally got to making my own Raquel Alegra inspired shredded t-shirt (about 2 years too late, but its OK).

There are a couple of holes in it, but I feel that it adds charcter (lol)

I also tried to do the same to this really old vest, but it went a bit mad, not too sure what I'm gonna do about it.

Confusion Girl....

27 August, 2009

I have to admit the last week of post have been very lack-luster, I've kind of been in a rut in regards to what direction to go with after a first week of really interesting posts, and I just found myself rehashing stuff from other blogs, which I know is really boring.

There have been things which I have been working on, but I just haven't had the urge to get them finished and published until now, I've got an idea of where I want to go with the blog, and I've got a lot of exciting things planned.....

But to hold you over until then;, I'm leaving you with a few pictures of Ebony Bones, an indie/electro musician. Although, I'm not really a fan of her music, shes just one of those people who is just exciting to look at.
If she looks familiar to you, she played Yasmin in Family Affairs(surprise!)

Claire Danes for NYLON Magazine

....

OK, so I've noticed that a lot of the traffic directed to my blog from Google is in relation to the MTTB "my girls rock balenciaga & smoke mad marijuana....." t shirt. For those who don't know, that t-shirt is almost two years old and is SOLD OUT in the states and online.

And until recently I thought they were sold out in the UK as well, until last night when I was looking through the London Lite and noticed a picture of them in article. it turns out there are still some available at WAH Nails, a hipster nail salon-come-boutique-come-WAH Magazine HQ-come-record shop-come-gallery, basically the ultimate "cool people" hangout.

It also looks like they have the "Boy's aint shit but hoes and tricks" tee as well, another favourite which (unfortunately) sold out within days as well as other MTTB t shirts available (I tried to scan it but the picture came out really crap), so if you're in London you might as well head down and see if you can get your hands on one.....

......And while you're down there you might as well go and get you're nails did...prices start at £8 for nail art and £30 for extensions.

WAH Nails can be found at 20 Kinglsand Road, London E8, open Monday -Saturday from noon til 8pm.

One Pusssy You Can't Fuck With......

24 August, 2009

Stuff Fly People Like have just realised a sneak preview of Cassie's shoot with women's streetwear brand Dimepiece, who unlike MTTB have managed to successfully move away from the t-shirts and produce wearable separates and daywear. This is one of my favourtie collections from then so far, I want both t-shirts... can't wait to see what's to come.

Come and Get Your Money Little Duffle Bag Boy.....

As you may remember from my last post, I was deciding on what to do with and old blazer; at the end I decided to customize it with buttons, but it looks like I'm going to need over a 200 buttons, but so far I only have like 40 buttons, so I've got a long way to go.

So in the meanwhile I decided to attempt to make an Alexander Wang Coco Duffle inspired bag. I had this (very) old bag that I brought from H&M a couple of years ago, and I looked like it would do the job.

I couldn't find any conical shape studs anywhere, so I made do with some pyramid studs instead here from Ebay, and here's the result:

It was fairly easy to do, and took less than an episode of Veronica Mars to finish, but I'm thinking of redoing it and using a few more studs, I only used 23 studs and looks kind of sparse to me, and it's kind of wonky as well. But it's not bad for a first try.

They Say I Dress White, But My Swag So Urban........

23 August, 2009

Wasn't a fan of this song when it first came out, but I've had it on repeat ever since the video got released, not a fan of Jamie's or The Dream's parts though.
Looks like Drake's plans for worldwide domination has finally been set in place.

And speaking of Drake, did anyone else hear that they're planning to Re-release "So Far Gone"...... that's either going to go really bad, or really well.

Dope Chef x Reset London

22 August, 2009

For all the guys out there...
....Streetwear specialists Currency have teamed up with Nike to produce some exclusive pieces for Reset London next Saturday at the Nike 1948 store in Shoreditch. , including shirts, Bombers and special edition all crystal ‘Dope Chef’ and ‘Moon Walker’ pieces. The MJ piece is actually one of my favourite items, and I have a thing for shinny/embellished things at the moment, so I can't wait to see what it'll look like.

For those who don't know, Currency are a street brand, know for their hood inspired and witty catchphrase t-shirts, their clothes are a sharp take on urban popular culture, while still keeping to their roots. Their clothes have been seen on artists such as Tinie Tempah, Officer Ricky Ross Jim Jones and Omarion.

The first time I saw this it actually kind of shocked me, and it still makes me laugh each time I see it, I kind of want it.

If you can't make it down to the sale, you can still get some of their clothes at their site.

Hellz Bellz "So Lolita"

H&M Party Collection.

Nitro:licous has just given a sneak peek of H&M's 2009 Party Collection, the collection seems to have a filigree/lace theme, with loads of gold and black accents in many of the items.
I haven't been to H&M in a while, and too be honest it doesn't look like I'm missing much, I'm not really a fan of the collection, they're not as exciting as their previous collections, but this is only a preview, so there is still more to come. And I still have my hopes pinned on the preview of the Divided & Modern Classics collection since they are usually more exciting.

I do, however love the blazers, the Stella McCartney inspired peach silk blazer is gorgeous, and I'm a sucker for anything sequined, so I'd love to get my hands on that blue one.

The filigree necklace is nice statement piece, not sure if I'd but it though, looks like something that you could easily DIY at home, which I might just try.

This skirt reminds me of something from the Louis Vuitton S/S 09 collection

The range includes clothes, shows and accessories, and should be in most H&M stores from October. More pictures of the preview can be found at Nitro:licous.

The First Cut is the Deepest.....

One of the best things about Facebook and Myspace is that it gives a chance to discover so many exciting new designers, one that I've been a fan of for quite a while is Cut & Swallow, the brain child of Danielle A Scott-Haughton, a 19 year old self-taught designer, from South London.

First started in 2007, CUT&SWALLOW is now on their second capsule collection, which consists of 5 futuristic read-to-wear evening dresses.

Each one of the designs put an edgy, unique twist to the staple raving dresses, the fact that she was able to make a white voile meringue style dress, that has the right mix of fantasy fairytale and attitude is a testament to her talent.

The Bubblegum Pink dress is defiantly my favourite, rices range from £35-60, available from CUT&SWALLOW and at Spitalfield's Market in Liverpool St from Friday 24th July for every friday until October.
